Dr Kanyik is currently an Internal Medicine Specialist and Physician at Melomed Hospital in Mitchell’s Plain. In 2000, he completed his MBChB at the University of Lubumbashi (UNILU) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2015, he obtained a Masters in Internal Medicine at the University of Cape Town. In 2019, he completed a course in Good Clinical Practice in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Dr Kanyik started his medical career as an intern in a hospital in D.R. Congo in 1999. In 2001, he worked as a General Practitioner at Bethsaida Clinic, in Kolwezi, D.R. Congo. Thereafter, he was employed as a Medical Officer at Saint James Mission Hospital in Lesotho. From 2008-2011, he served as a Medical Officer at Groote Schuur Hospital’s Department of Medicine, before being promoted to Medical Registrar in the same department. Since 2015, he has been working as an Internal Medicine Specialist as a Locum in various facilities, including Melomed Hospital in Mitchell’s Plain.
Dr Kanyik has a special interest in internal medicine and practices as an Internist. An Internist is described as a medical doctor who specialises as a diagnostician for adults. They provide healthcare management for patients and offer diagnostics and nonsurgical treatment. After diagnosis, an Internist provides comprehensive care in which they manage common and complex diseases.
